This is a list compiling drivers who have been fatally injured in American Championship Car Racing, since 1956. The list recognizes "Indy car" or "Champ car" fatalities under the following sanctioning bodies:
The most recent driver to be killed in an IndyCar Series event was Dan Wheldon in 2011.

Non-driver fatalities
- Randy D. Pyatte, Jeff Patton, Dexter D. Mobley[1] (May 1, 1999): Three spectactors were killed, and eight others (two of whom were children) were injured, at Lowe's Motor Speedway during the IRL VisionAire 500K. On the 61st lap, Stan Wattles crashed in turn four, shearing off both right-side wheels. The car of John Paul, Jr. struck one of the wheels, propelling it into the stands. A witness claimed a wheel with suspension pieces flew into the seats.
- Hailey McGee, a 9-year old girl, was one of the persons injured, suffering bruises to her brain and lung. The others injured include: Jeremy Jones (chest injury), Wesley J. Rice (stomach injury), Matthew J. Picklesimer (head laceration), Amanda R. Shondelmyer (head laceration, shoulder), Nathaniel Blosser (puncture wound), David Duncan (shoulder), Chad Duncan (leg).[2]
